I think Wes Anderson is my favorite director. Yes I know there are people like Scorsese and Kubrick and Coppola. And of course there is PT Anderson (director of my favorite movie Magnolia) and Tarantino and Pedro Almodovar and the Cohen Brothers and Pollak and Soderbergh.
But I think that the director who speaks most to me is definitely Wes Anderson. His style, his attention to detail and most importantly the way he seems to channel the fantasy life of a 12 year old boy into something that is just captivating and so watchable is just addictive to me.
I just finished Fantastic Mr. Fox. Here is a movie that I thought was a kids movie (since it is animated) so I skipped it, but I was told by my office mates that I needed to see it so I did. And I’m so glad I did. It’s not a kids movie at all. It’s an Anderson film that happens to be animated. In short, it was just awesome.
Anyway. Here, in case you are interested is my ordered list of Wes Anderson Films:
- Rushmore
- Fantastic Mr. Fox
- Moonrise Kingdom
- Royal Tannenbaums
- Bottle Rocket
- The Darjeeling Limited
- The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou
